John was briefed to appear on behalf of the Truth, Justice and Healing Council to assist with a co-ordinated response to this Royal Commission. He also appeared in the following Case Studies:
Each of the case-studies involved assessment and disclosure of relevant documentation, interview of witnesses, taking statements from witnesses, preparation of tender bundles, preparation of cross-examination, appearing at hearings, writing of written submissions over several concentrated periods of time.
In addition, John appeared at a Private Hearing of the Commission in 2015.
John was briefed to advise and appear at the Royal Commission on behalf of a number of directors and officers of companies within the HIH Insurance Group. As part of this retainer, he provided advise on a continuing basis to a number of key witnesses who had been summoned to give evidence and who occupied senior managerial positions. A number of those persons had significant exposure to criminal prosecution.
